FAQ
Frequently asked questions
- What is a 1099 invoice?
- It's the invoice a self-employed or 1099 contractor sends to a client for work performed. It documents what was done, how much is owed, and the payment terms — and gives you a clean record for tax time.
- Should I put my SSN or EIN on a 1099 invoice?
- You generally don't need to. Tax IDs are exchanged via a W-9, not the invoice itself. If a client specifically requests it, add it to the notes field — but avoid putting sensitive numbers on documents unless asked.
- How do I keep records of my invoices?
- Download the PDF for each invoice and keep them in a dated folder. We'll add saved invoice history to the Pro plan, but the PDFs you export are yours to keep forever.
